Heirloom Rose
This painting was inspired by the rose bush I inherited from the previous owners of my home. The previous owners were the children of the original owners of the home - two sisters, Jonette and Harriet. The home had been in their family since it was built in 1948 until we bought it. They had so many happy memories in this home, one of which being how their mother tended her garden in the backyard. Still in the backyard is a 5 foot tall rose bush. Jonette told me that she'd been taking care of it despite not living in the house for a long time. While I'm not much of a gardener, I do love roses. My Nana had grown them as well. These in my backyard bring me continuous joy when they bloom.
This acrylic painting on canvas is 16 inches by 20 inches.
